Laura Palomares

Dr. Laura Palomares defines herself as a virotechnologist. She has been dedicated to develop tecnologies by using viral proteins, among them vaccines, vectors for gene therapy and nanobiomaterials. She has a bachelor in biochemical engeneering by ITESM and a PhD by UNAM. She is a principal investigator at the Instituto de Biotecnología, UNAM and she is also part of the National System of Reseachers in Mexico (SNI III). She has received several awards among them, the National University Prize 2018 in the field of Engeneering and Technology, Interscience Prize in Life Sciences, Canifarma Prize in Veterinary as wells as Prize in research launched by the Mexican Science Academy. She is permanent member of the Committee for New Drugs, COFEPRIS (equivalent to FDA), an expert in the Farmacopea de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos (equivalent to U.S Pharmacopeia) and also a scientific advisor for Protein Sciences (U.S.) and Liomont Laboratories.
