Marleby García González

Dr. Marleby García has a Master in Sciences in Protein Biochemistry by the University of La Havana, Cuba. She has the Mexican citizenship by naturalization. With over 25 years of experience in biotechnology industry, she has been leader of severak research project as well as in the development of different biotechnologic drugs. As a graduated biochemist from the University of La Havana, she emigrated t Mexico in 2000 where she started working at the national pharmaceutical industry. Her Master in Biochemistry has been the base of her contributions to the national science. Among her scientific and technologic achivements, she has worked in the design and commercialization of an assay to diagnose Hepatitis C virus by ELISA, which today is used by the Public Health System in Cuba to asses blood samples.
In Mexico, she has been the leader of several research groups integrated by different specialists, leading to the approval of 8 biotechnologic drugs, among them, the first biosimilar approved in Mexico by the National Regulatory Entity (COFEPRIS).She has also been a leader in two different teams contributing to the design and built of two biotecnological factories based in Jaliso, México. She is also vicepresident of the Committee of Biotech Product ANAFAM, where, along with COFEPRIS, she participates as an expert in regulatory affairs leading to the devepment of new guides that regulates biotech products in Mexico.
Dr. Marleby was professor of several courses including Biochemistry and Industrial Biotechnology at ITESO for 5 years, where she also contributed to established the Biotecnnological Engeneering Program, combining her academic life with her pharmaceutical industry life.
Her projects have been supported by CONACYT and awarded by the National Prize in Tecnology. Dr. Marleby has been the leader of a group integrated by scientists, technicians and workers at Laboratorios PiSA SA de CV since 8 years ago, as a chief in Biotechnology and Innovation.
Recently she has received a Doctorate Honoris Causa for her valuable trajectory in the benefit of education, social service and sustainable development in favor of the nation and humanity.
