Nicole Cuz

Dr. Cruz is a fellow in the Hematology and Medical Oncology Program at Weill Cornell Medicine – New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York, NY, and a physician-scientist focused in therapeutics development for treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). She has worked at well-established research institutions such as Johns Hopkins and the University of Colorado. After graduating from the San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Puerto Rico in 2014, she did her internal medicine residency at Weill Cornell Medicine where she met her clinical mentor Dr.Gail Roboz and her research mentor Dr. Monica Guzman. Dr. Roboz, is the director of the leukemia and translational research program at Cornell and Clinical Chair of the European Leukemia Net (ELN) group. Dr.Monica Guzman, is an expert in leukemia stem cells and therapeutic developments for AML.

Dr.Cruz was most recently honored with the American Society of Hematology HONORS Award in 2016 and the National Hispanic Medical Association Award Resident of the Year Award in 2017 in recognition for her outstanding work as a resident and contributions to leukemia research. Most recently she received the Weill Cornell Medicine Charles Uribe Award in 2017 in recognition for her service and dedication to the underserved patient populations in New York, for serving as a leader and inspiration to the underrepresented housestaff officers and for being a devoted teacher to the internal medicine residents and students of Weill Cornell.
